Follansbee Branch holding pumpkin-decorating contest

FOLLANSBEE – The Follansbee Branch Library will hold a pumpkin-decorating contest for children in preschool through eighth grade at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

The Follansbee Friends of the Library will donate the pumpkins and supply the judges for the contest. All supplies will be provided by the library.

Baby shower to benefit A.I.M. Center

WELLSBURG – A baby shower to benefit the Assistance in Motherhood Center will be hosted by the Altar-Rosary Society of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 7 p.m Nov. 6 at the church hall.

Everyone is invited to attend and bring an unwrapped baby item to be donated to the A.I.M. Center. Items also may be left in the vestibule of the church at any time.

Located in Steubenville, the pregnancy crisis center offers alternatives to abortion, free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, doctor referrals and classes in health and child care. Sharon Maedke is its director.

During the shower, John and Roberta Alvarez will present a program of Broadway tunes for entertainment. There will also be games and prizes.

A luncheon will be served by a committee made up of Sara Gundling, Ruth Cusick, Martha Lallone, Virginia Diserio and Mary Margaret Cipoletti.

The Rev. Dan Pisano is the church’s pastor. Wilma Stewart is president of the society.
