DANIELS, Thomas Jay, age 74, of Richmond, OH, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Acuity Specialty Hospital, Steubenville, OH.
He was born October 27, 1938, in Toronto, OH, the son of the late Robert T. and Edith Mae Miller Daniels.
Thomas was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church of Toronto; a 1956 graduate of Toronto High School, a graduate of Kent State University receiving a bachelor’s degree and a graduate of the University of Dayton receiving a master’s degree and was a member of the Richmond, OH, American Legion Post 740.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and was retired as an administrator for the Jefferson County School System.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Hinkle Daniels whom he married June 18, 1958; sons, Jay (Janet) Daniels of Baden, PA and Dean (Marilyn) Daniels of Duncan Falls, OH; daughter, Marge (Russell) Mohney of Richmond, OH; grandchildren, Dani, Jenn, Tristan, Whitney, T.J., Gwen, Lindsay and Brad; great-grandchildren, Rusty, Rylie, Reagan, Jhet, Brady, Jade, Janna and Rylan; sister: Kitty Kutchmark of Toronto, OH and brother-in-law, Clarke (Diane) Hinkle.
Visitation for Thomas will be private. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Toronto Union Cemetery lower section Thursday, October 3 at 2 p.m. for a graveside service for Thomas with full military honors and legion chaplain services by the Richmond American Legion.
Thomas’ arrangements are in the care of the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
