Kiwanians thank scramble participants

To the editor:

As a followup to this year’s Steubenville Kiwanis Charity Golf Scramble, which was held June 9 at Spring Hills Golf Course, the members of the club would like to take this opportunity to thank the many local businesses, professionals and individuals who contributed to this worthy fundraiser by sponsoring a hole; sponsoring a team; donating prizes, food, beverages or services; playing golf; or otherwise supporting the event.

All of the proceeds generated by this annual golf outing go directly to support Kiwanis charities and programs including, but not limited to, the Key Clubs at Steubenville, Catholic Central and Indian Creek high schools; Jefferson Kiwanis Youth Soccer Club; Steubenville High School wrestling tournament; Salvation Army; Urban Mission; Big Brothers Big Sisters; Treat the Troops; Jefferson County Fourth Street Health Center; adopt-a-school projects and many others.

We sincerely thank our numerous sponsors, donors and supporters for their contributions to this year’s scramble. We would especially like to thank Charlie Corder and Dan Stacey of the Spring Hills Golf Course for so willingly providing us with the perfect venue each year and for making sure each scramble is a relaxing, enjoyable day for the planners and participants.

We will now focus on planning the 2014 golf outing – certainly sure to be bigger and better – and to the many benefits it will provide to Kiwanian charities and programs.
