Avella library digging reading

AVELLA – The Avella Public Library will hold its summer reading program, “Dig Into Reading,” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday and July 17, 24 and 31.

The program will focus on all things underground such as archaeology, burrowing animals, fossils and root vegetables. Under the guidance of former Fort Cherry Schools teacher Sheila Carter and volunteers, the program will offer informational projects of all sorts. Children will explore this theme through books, art and hands-on adventures.

All ages are welcome, and the library is accepting donations of snacks, beverages and craft supplies toward the program. To register or make a donation, call (724) 587-5688.

Library officials asked those with overdue items return them or risk not receiving the new, county-wide patron card. The library can’t afford to replace overdue items.

The library is offering “Music N’At” lessons in piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone and guitar.

Library hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday.
