STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – Twenty-six members of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church’s Philoptochos Society met for a dinner meeting April 4 at Lancelot’s where President Marianne Balakos presided.
The Rev. Nicholas Halkias gave the opening prayer.
The group adopted a family with 10 children as an Easter project, providing food for their Easter dinner and an Easter basket.
A nominating committee was appointed to elect officers at the next meeting, which will be held Thursday at Janoski’s Farm Restaurant.
Monthly charities the group elected to support were: April, ALIVE Shelter; May, TEAR fund at the Teramana Cancer Center; June, Special Olympics; July, Urban Mission Ministries; and August, Salvation Army.
The society also agreed to send a donation to Wendy’s “Shoes for Kids.”
