Virginia Hoyt

HOYT, Virginia O. “Ginny,” 83, of New Alexandria, Ohio, passed away Friday March 22, 2013, at Dixon Health Care Center in Wintersville, Ohio.

She was born September 25, 1929, in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late George and Sarah O. (Jackson) Selmon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, David N. Hoyt, in 1957; and two brothers, George J. and Paul Selmon.

Ginny was a homemaker and she enjoyed bowling. She was a member of the New Alexandria United Methodist Church; a former councilwoman in New Alexandria; and a member of the R.I.F. Program.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, D. William “Bill” Hoyt, whom she married on March 3, 1948; two sons, William J. (Candy) Hoyt of Weirton, WV, and Clayton Hoyt of New Alexandria; a daughter, Virginia Quinn of Gaithersburg, MD; eight grandchildren, Marlene (George) Oller, Charlene (Mike) Lawrence, Rachael (John) Mozek, Billie Jo (Jeff) Dalfol, Chris (Heather) Hoyt, Matt Hoyt, Casey Hoyt Brown, Rob (Anna) Bartley; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, where her funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jimm Woods, officiating.

Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed in Ginny’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 70 West Streetsboro St., Suite 201, Hudson, Ohio 44235-5111.
