AIM Women’s Center to hold annual banquet

The AIM Women’s Center located at 248 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, will host its annual fundraising banquet on March 12 at the Serbian-American Cultural Center in Weirton.

The theme will be “For I Know Well the Plan I Have in Mind for You.”

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the event set to begin at 7 p.m.

The evening will feature an update on the ministry, a guest speaker, dinner and the opportunity to support AIM Women’s Center, according to a press release.

Gianna Jessen will be the featured speaker.

“Gianna’s life was given to her by the grace of God when her biological mother had a saline abortion in her third trimester,” according to a news release. “Gianna was delivered alive in a Los Angeles County abortion clinic. Being ‘born during a saline abortion’ caused Gianna to have cerebral palsy. Doctors said she would never be able to hold up her head, sit up, crawl or walk. But Gianna never quit,” the release continues.

“Today she walks with a slight limp and even runs marathons. Gianna’s travels and experiences have led her all over the world. Her life has been covered by many major news media outlets, including, most recently, the BBC News and World Radio, Sky News and the Good Morning Show in England, reaching many people with a message of hope and conviction,” the release notes.

“In December 2005, Gianna spoke at a meeting held at the House of Commons in London. Gianna recently had her testimony read before the Supreme Court in Carhart v. Gonzales. The movie ‘October Baby’ (2011) is a film loosely based on Gianna’s life story. We are thrilled to be able to bring Gianna to the Ohio Valley to share her testimony in person,” the news release notes.
