Retail sales show increase in November

STEUBENVILLE – Retail sales in Jefferson County increased by 4 percent in November compared to the same period last year.

Jefferson County Treasurer Raymond M. Agresta said retail sales for November totaled $59.43 million, generating $891,555 in piggyback sales tax revenue for the county. Agresta said piggyback sales tax receipts for November 2011 generated $851,994, based on retail sales of $56.79 million.

Retail sales in Jefferson County have averaged $60.43 million a month in 2012, compared to $54.97 million a month during the prior four years.

Three-person art show at EGCC

STEUBENVILLE – Eastern Gateway Community College is hosting a three-person art show through Feb. 1 in the lobby of the Jefferson County Campus.

The exhibit features the work of Steubenville Art Association members Robert S. Martin, Laura Thrasher and Jim Watson. The free exhibit is open to the public.

Visitation day at JCCS set for Feb. 1

WINTERSVILLE – The Jefferson County Christian School in Wintersville will host a visitation day from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 1 to visit with students and staff.

Interested families with students entering kindergarten through 12 for the 2013-14 school year can register for visitation day by calling the school at (740) 275-4326, extension 203.

A parent or guardian must attend with their student(s). Registration deadline is Wednesday.
